History
D&D Farm Supply started with Dennis Bagniewski selling seed on is farm in 1982.
Companies sold for included: Dairyland Seed and Schumann Seed. In 1984 a herbicide line
was added consisting of chemicals purchased through Schumann Seeds. In 1985, chemicals
were sold from Van Diest Supply out of Webster City, Iowa. Sales expanded and seed and
chemicals were sold throughout the state. In 1986, Carharts Seed was added to the line and
Dennis became county supervisor for Dairyland Seed in Trempealeau and Buffalo County.
To separate business from farm, the name J.A.K. Seed and Supply was taken.
Sales grew until 1990, when a partnership was formed between Dennis Bagniewski and
Dennis Kampa of Elk Creek Feed Mill. A store location was rented (Tempski Farm Supply) on
March 8, 1990. Business opened as D&D Farm Supply with two people, Bill Borgwardt and
Dennis Bagniewski. Lines added were Doboy Feed, Berg Equipment and also Knight
Equipment was obtained through another dealer. In 1991, Dennis Bagniewski and Doris
Bagniewski purchased Dennis Kampa's share of D&D Farm Supply. In April of 1992, D&D
Farm Supply, Inc. was formed with David Bagniewski joining the company. New lines were
added: Badger equipment, Hubbard Feeds, Van Dale, Cargil Seeds, Ag Bag, Automatic, and
Silomatic. D&D Farm Supply in June of 1992 purchased two branches of the bankrupt A-G
Co-op. The branches included a mill in Ettrick and a feed store at Melrose. The store at
Melrose was later sold to West Salem Co-op.
In 1993, lumber was added to the product lines as-well-as our own ag-construction team. At
this time D&D Farm Supply employed 14 people. Product lines included: seeds (Cargil,
Schumanns, Carharts and Dist. for Wesman Seeds), chemicals (Van Diest Supply, Nachurs
Fertilizer, and Hart-Gro), equipment (Badger, Berg, Van Dale, Ag Bag, Automatic, Silomatic,
Artsway, and others), buildings and supplies (Badger Corrugating, Wausau and others),
feeds (Doboy and Hubbard). D&D Farm Supply had also increased it's own product lines
such as minerals, feeds, alfalfa, seed, and others. Sales have grown to over 2.5 million in
1994. In January 1995, our site in Arcadia was expanded by bringing in over three thousand
loads of fill. Increasing our buildable area for expansion to 5 acres. A total of 8 acres is
included at Arcadia. A new office and display area were added in 1995.
